Keen Roswell Boots Review – $155

Summer is rapidly approaching and with that obscene temperatures. Unfortunately my occupational situation requires me to wear boots. Nothing is quite as masochistic as wearing heavy boots in 90 degree weather. Keen must have heard my lamentations when they released theKeen Roswell Boots.

Construction

TheKeen Roswell bootshave a heavy canvas exterior with oil and slip resistant outsole. They’re electrical hazard rated and have anti odor protection. You can get these with a carbon fiber safety toe as well. They featureKEEN ReGEN which is described as a lightweight, compression-resisting midsole providing 50% more energy return than standard EVA foam.Other pedigrees include Moisture-wicking textile lining and removable metatomical PU footbed. Weight is 22.6 oz.

Function

These boots are perfect as a warm weather option in environments where toe protection is needed. The adjustable fold down collar is great if you want a shoe feel with boot capabilities. The ankle support on these isn’t that great just due to the pliability of the canvas. I find them great for mowing the lawn, they keep the grass out of my socks and the colorway isn’t affected by the clippings. Note, these are not water resistant. I also just like wearing boots, and it’s great to finally have a warm weather boots that I can wear with shorts that don’t come off as fantastically podunk.

Aesthetic

The look of these boots is especially eye-catching. They seem to have borrowed the Palladium look, and improved on it. The leather toe cap really pops giving these boots a vague military vibe without coming off too tactical. The almost oversized outsole creates a fun vibe which helps to offset the serious nature of boots in general.

Conclusion

I really like theKeen Roswell boots, so much in fact I plan to buy a few and stockpile them. The lightweight, breathable exterior makes these an essential summer tool. The lacking ankle support and virtually no water resistance are definitely a drawback, however. The $155 price point is about average.
